A gun that belonged to John Dillinger was sold this weekend in Dallas for $95,600. It was a 41 cal double derringer. It was hidden in his sock when he was arrested in Tucson Ariz. in 1934.

Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Yeh. I wonder how it was documented, surely it had had some sort of 'proof' with it, or buyer was a damn fool!

When I was at Cody Wyoming,a small private museum,not the well known one,had a pistol,that was labeled as the one used by Dillinger to escape from jail.The one whittled from wood,and painted black.
It was just in a display case,along with common stuff.
I still have doubts of its real identity.
