    3ky,
My Inland 5,061,238 has a barrel date of 3-44....so your 7-44 is very possibly the original one. A HI adj rear sight is a milled one and could also be original to your carbine same with the type I..N marked frt sight. I think the AMCO bayo band was post WWII.
Here's the mag catch you need to support a loaded 30 Rd,
M1 Carbine Inland Type IV Magazine Catch EI marked - eBay (item 300333073109 end time Jul-30-09 07:49:37 PDT)

    Regards

P.S. check the nubs on the 30 rd mag you have, sometimes they need to be pryed out a little to catch, but the above catch is best for using one.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Underwood's are good to add to your collection. Depending on how much of a mixmaster ist is, I'd offer the shop $600 in today's economy. Of course, TE, MW, Headspace, etc should all be acceptable. You'd want a shooter, not a wall hanger.

I'm planning to go look at it again. Its a non import but had adjustable rear sight and bayonet lug. I'll have to look at the stock to see who made it because I remenber it had its stock markings intact. Metal is very nice but not as nice as the one I bought. Stock is lighter color than the one I have. It was a nice Underwood non import with sling. Dont remenber if the sling was C tip but I'll look at it too. Bore was bright and shiney. This was either an older DCM or one someone bought long ago like the one I have.

    Welcome to the group...

Welcome to the carbine group 3sky. I must warn you that buying and owning carbines is a serious sickness that gets worse with every new purchase. You will find a good group of carbine people on here and they are willing to help and teach. Good Shooting...
    Best..

I bought the Underwood for 600. Its non import and nicer finnish than the Inland. Serial number is 6112464. Its a rebuild for Korea. Barrel marked SA 10 51. Late replacement barrel I take it. Stock is a low wood marked HI in the sling well and AAT wich I take it is rebuild mark. Rear sight is marked H in a shield and adjustable. Barrel band is SI. Front sight is marked N. Trigger guard is stamped and welded with flip safety and M marked mag reliease. Has a round bolt. Nice looking almost mint with pretty wood. I'll shoot this one since its a mixer. I'll take them apart and look at the innards. I got my book today US M1icon Carbines Wartime Production so I have some reading material. I'll post pictures of my carbines tom. I'm going to buy a cam and upload some.
