Sounds like the bolt is too long. You will need to replace the bolt or have the chamber reemed for that bolt. But remember if you want to change the bolt down the road the next bolt may be too short.

try this.
remove the cocking assembly.
feed a live factory round, not a reload, and not military,
bolt should close easy.
if the bolt doesnt close easy. dont force it,
try another bolt you know works in another rifle, if it still wont close, then it has a short chamber,
if it does close and eject without an issue, then its the bolt.
A3 bolts are not that tough to find.

The last time I checked both Springfield Sporters and The Dealers Warehouse have mint, cheap "R" bolts. I would try another new bolt before I need any chamber reaming.

the bolt is definitely too long. I can hold it up next to every other bolt I have, line up the back end and this bolt is about 1/64 longer (.015). the guy I bought it from swears there's nothing wrong with it. Guess I'm out $27.

Factory "long" bolts are not common at all. Hang on to that bolt.

I don't know if collectors are looking. Just had a buddy have his barrel set back and re-chambered because he couldn't find a "long" bolt. I have one upstairs!
