1903A4 Scope M73B1 and Mount
Picked up this scope and mount for a 1903A4 at an antique store this weekend. Here are some picks for comment.

Trying to decide if I'm going to keep it and maybe look for a rifle to mount it to or sell and buy something I won't be afraid to shoot and potentially kill the value.
PS: if you're a 1903A4 collector or have been searching for one of these scopes, you really don't want to know what I paid for it. I wonder how I sleep at night.

Well you did good. If you sell it you should get a nice price for the scope, rings abd mount. You could wait and try and buy an A4 from the CMP
auction. It will be pricey but would be well worth it to me.

I doubt I will have the money to get one off the CMP
auction. It seems those bidders have deep pockets.

nice scope, i had to laugh when i saw the covered up number on the side lol.
that number has nothing to do with the rifle it was on.
only for the scope, for the Army.

It's a habit I have from listing rifles. Didn't even think about it at the time. Actually I have never thought about why serial numbers are hidden on the guns, but I started doing it anyway.

TK - Looks like you did real good! It's seldom one finds a scope, rings and a scope base all together.
I'd love to see a good, clear, close up picture with all the tube engraving as well as the complete serial #. Several forum members maintain databases on the M73B1 scopes.
I wouldn't even hazard a guess on the sale value of your combination except to say if your gonna sell it you probably be best off to sell it as follows:
1 - Base alone.
2 - Ring Set.
3 - Scope alone.
Or Scope and Ring set and sell base seperately.
Attached is a link to a 3rd Model M73B1 Scope that just sold on eBay.. Astounding what it brought
Your rig is much nicer!!

Some even XX the part number on a late 1911A1 GI replacement slide or barrel.

Wow, that one on ebay sold for 60 times what I paid for this one. Beats my 401K.

I would like to see it on my A4

But I do not think that will happen.
