Model 1 sales
My winter project will be to build an AR15 rifle. I have built several FALS and rebuilt M1 Carbines and various bolt actions and decided I needed a new challenge. Yesterday I purchased a lower at a gun show. This brings up two things:
1. Is Model 1 sales a good source of a kit? Is there sources to avoid? Recommendations in general for parts source.
2. I have found an INTERNET assembly instruction site. There are some DVDs on assembly, but what I would really like (I am an old fart who learns best from books) is a good book and source for same.
Thanks in advance for any advice. I promise to post photos and shooting results when the project is over. It probably will keep me amused from Elk season until next June.

I've also had good results with "The AR-15 Complete Assembly Guide" by Walt Kuleck and Clint McKee. Available from Amazon, Brownell's, Midway, etc. Nice pics, step by step, and hints. HTH

A friend has built 2 rifles with Model one kits. Both are good quality. There dedicated .22lr is great. Funny seeing a flash suppressor on a .22. hth, jeff

Thanks for all the help!
I purchased the Kuleck manual, and my stepson sent me the Marine one, along with a loan of tools, so as soon as I get the money I will be ordering a kit from Model 1.
I have an advertisement in the Missoulian, but have had no interest in a FAL that I am selling to get the money. The first time I have not had a lot of interest in a firearm for sale. If no response after Sunday's paper I will place an advert in the WTS forum here.

Pretty much all the kits come with already assembled uppers with headspacing and test firing already done. AR's are really the Volkswagons of firearms, very easy to build and with lots of accessories that can simply be bolted on. Still lots of fun! Enjoy.

Model 1
I have had great results with Model 1 kits. As a note, get the cheap tool that depresses the "take down detent" and be sure to tape the lower when driving in the bolt catch pin.

Advert for FAL
I have placed an Ad in the Jousters WTS forum.
A PM would also work.
