I also bought a Criterion barrel for my 1917.

I found out I could not remove my old barrel even with a six foot cheater, and I was practically jumping up and down on it. I had the receiver clamped in a very large vise with two blocks of lead around the receiver ring. A heavy nylon rope was spooled around the barrel with a pipe handle to turn it. My Dad and I both pulled on the thing for while and never could get it to budge.

I have never in my life encountered a threaded fitting of that size that was so tight. I guess I need to either make a relief cut on the barrel, or send it to ChuckinDenver.
