nice, but, im with John...not a sniper..
Bolt should not be bright..for a rifle that clean, it should have a black bolt.
for that amount of money, id want to see alot more closeup pics,
buttplate, bolt. ect.
the REAL USMC sniper rifles iv seen and held, had no muzzle mark, but did have the SG mark ahead of the sight base.
that alone isnt a deal breaker, and others may have a muzzle mark..
however, from what im told by someone who really knows USMC rifles,
they didnt like to mess with the muzzle.

also.
barrel is a replacement.
1331660 with a 1939 barrel???not likely.
had it been rebarreled, likely it would have been a SA 42 barrel..
if you look close, finish, on the sight base doesnt match the reciever.
this is a very nice rifle, and a nice scope, but 18 grand???hmmm.
10 grand maybe, id bet if he started that as a no reserve, and let it run in the Winter, it would have got close to what he was asking...
but, like MOST of the auctions on GB, they arent real auctions, start out a real bottom price. say, open it at 2 grand, no reserve, or a realistic reserve of say 10 grand. and it would likely sell.
scope would fetch 6 to 7 grand by itself..rifle 15 to 1800.00 maybe more.

mine's bona fide original and all correct with a lot of dings from battle and nib. my old man took it off a dead jap at normandy in 1955. i might be persuaded to let it go for $10.0k. if you don't like it. bring it back. i won't be here.
