    Texas State Garand/Vintage/03/Carbine Championships 31 Oct.-1 Nov.

Texas State Rifle Assoc. will have the Texas Garandicon Championships Oct. 31-Nov. 1 at the Terrell Rifle and Pistol Club. I got this from Ken Gaby who calls the big TSRA HP shoots. The TSRA does not have it on their website yet with a link to enter but this is firm. Terrell RPC is a very nice range, no pits. They have 100 yard and 200 yard ranges side by side so I anticipate that may run carbine and other .30 events simultaneously. Great club house with amenities, shade trees, covered firing points. Generally you do not have to shoot all 4 matches over two days, you can get it all done in one day. Some people do fire both days to get warmed up with extra practice but that is personal preference. Terrell is about 40 min. east of Dallas. For military history buffs: In WW2 it was the site of No. 1 Britishicon Flying Training School, 24 RAF killed in training are buried in a Commonwealth War Grave there and there is a museum at the airport usually manned by Henry Madgewick, one of the RAF boys who liked Texas so much he came back to live there.

    Texas state Garand match

Thanks for the info. It's a little late in the year but we plan on being there. I'm way out in West Texas but daughter lives in Mesquite so I'll get to visit and shoot, a win win. We'll probably have 4 or 5 shooters from Big Spring.

Is that near a Waco glider museum I saw passing through that area years ago?

    Combat Glider Museum

The Silent Wings Museum at Terrell moved to Midland, Texas, with the Commemorative (former "Confederate") Air Force. The old Glider museum houses the No. 1 BFTS Museum. It's mainly models, uniforms, maps, oxygen masks, life rafts etc. No actual aircraft.
