Quetions on Greek Ammo
Opened up a can of Greek today, NXP-4072-78 that I purchased last month. If you have used this lot did you find it accurate and also did you have any problems with the en blocs.
I understand some of the Greek en blocs were not operating properly in the past and was wondering if this was the lot number that had the problems. Planning on going to a pop us shoot Sept. 5th and will not have the opportunity to go to a range beforehand.
Thanks to all who respond.
John

I have used some of the out-of-spec clips with no major problem other than having to use extra effort to insert them into the receiver. I discard them afterwards.

Thanks Rider, appreciate the response. For the match I think I will just R&R the ammo into en blocs I know work well and try the removed ones at a later date at the range.

Always reload your ammo into enblocs you know you can trust for a match. The middle of a match is no time to find out which enblocs are going to be trouble.
By the way, I'll be at the pop up shoot at Camp Perry on the 5th. Maybe we'll meet up.

Good advice about chosing known, good enblocs that work flawlessly for a match. I put a paint pen mark on the ones that work best. One thing to bear in mind is that Enblocs were throw aways. They were not designed to be reused or "recycled" for 50 years. Think toilet paper here. When one curses the Greek heavy Parkerizing, I dont. I would rather have thick parkerizing than thick rust. Especially from clips made in the 60s and 70s.
The Garand was, and still is, a very robust and far from delicate firearm. Its no benchrest queen where you use your pinkie finger to cycle the bolt. Push the clip down like you are being fired at. Nothing will break, I guarentee it. It was made to withstand very rough conditions. Dont baby it, its not a safe queen by design anyway.

I agree the Garand is "very robust" in absorbing punishment. Not having the resources to support the purchase of the street market cost of Lake City Ammo ( when you can find it ) the Greek ammo is the next cost friendly alternate.
One technique that I picked up on the old board was to place the "Greek" enbloc in a zip lock bag filled with a small amount of WD-40, remove the enbloc from the bag and blot with a surgical sponge. The residue of the WD-40 seems to be enough to overcome the complaint about the "Greek" enblocs.

Remember WD-40 is NOT a lubricant! It is a Water Dispersant.
