Is there a letter after the ser nr? If not it was made in Jan 1940.
Sauer made approx 215,000+ in 1940.

Thanks Sarge! Looks to be a C or G under the serial number. Is that what you are referring to?

It's a c because the Germans used small case, not caps. That makes your rifle the 35,639th rifle built in 1940. Probably in Feb?
