The attached link takes you to an original report recommending adoption on the M1903A4 Sniper's Rifle and specials out the specifications.
Readers will note that during actual production a number of changes occurred but IMO it always helps to know where you started from.

they put in a request in Dec 42, Hatchers says he got a 1903A4 in Jan 43 for testing...think that would happen with todays BS???
