In the end, I decided not to purchase the rifle. Lancebear, thank you very much for all your information - and to all you others as well - I never felt that you were jumping on me. I was just trying to explain everything as much as I could so that I would know as soon as possible what I was looking at. From what others have said I think you all hit the nail on the head as to it probably being a CMP
Greek return. Nice call guys! I feel that I can always count on all of you to help me out when I really need it. Although the receiver is nice, I am still looking. So thanks again.

Bad move. That receiver is VERY uncommon. Worth the money.

It might have been in retrospect, but at the time I weighed in the fact that I'm more interested in finding a shooter 1911 right now than getting another 1903 and since this one didn't appear to be what I thought it might be, I decided against it. I have one, nothing really collectable other than possibly the 9-42 USMC barrel on it. Still, the barrel is like a mirror and gauges 1 MW (I don't have a 1903 TE gauge). The wood looks great and matches in condition and color - and even though it a Remington 1903A3 stock, it still has all the cartouches, along with a 3GM-K rebuild mark.
