Help! Need advice on purchase

Thank you all for the informative feedback. I was starting to feel like I would be taking unfair advantage of my friend so I shared all this info with him and he still wants to offer it to me for the six hundred. He inherited it along with about a dozen other firearms when his father passed away earlier this year (His one third share. He has two older brothers). He knew I always wanted one and he figures he'll probably never shoot it and knows I WILL and would take good care of it. I'm also not allowed to tell his older brothers
Any other useful info would continue to be greatly appreciated
