fake IP stock on epay

I gotta say, I'm skeptical about judging cartouches from pictures... I like to examine them in hand, with a loupe... too many ways to mis-judge with a pic.

Well, there's not much to be skeptical about with that one. It's not just the cartouche; there are several things wrong with the stock itself. Trust us...this one's a stinker!

I suppose the lack of an "I" cut may make a difference... but the stock may be one of those supplied by Inland. All I'm saying is I just don't make conclusions based solely on internet pictures any more. I've learned my lesson... shall we say.

But I am just a beginner, only been collecting these for maybe 10 years. Always something new to learn.

So can y'all elaborate on why it's a fake? From the pics? It's good that you know, but can you share this knowledge?

simplest part of forgery is there are no oval oiler cut original IP marked stocks, S'G' took over plant in march or april of 43--all real IP stocks were I-cuts-somebody is 600 smackers poorer today and is going to feel mighty foolish, at least they didn't buy a original IP gun with that stock on it. There are oval cut S'G' marked stocks on IP guns. There is another obvious error to the cartouche also which if you don't know don't matter, just do not use Harrison's cartouche guide for a IP cartouche, it is dead wrong.

Remember the days when you could contact the buyer/high bidder and give them a heads up? No one but the seller will be able to contact the buyer once the auction is done either. Too bad more people don't come by and visit with us more often. We could have a great deal of fun!

I have a pretty early IP wearing a I-cut S'G', so I would assume all IP cartouched stocks will be I-cut as well.
