Most Savage No4 MkI*'s used the Mk2 flip backsight (zeroed for 300 yards and 600 yards).

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. MJ1, I couldn't have resisted that Savage either. I don't know why, but there have been several showing up lately. Some still in the box with tags and cosmolene.
I'm in Canadaicon by the way and the prices on these pieces seems to be anywhere from $500-$700, as long as everything is pristine.
Maybe it's a sign of the times? People that have never been out of work before selling off a safe queen or just an aging population base, passing on the torch?

Too late.... I slipped off the wagon again last night. I won the GB auction for the Savage I was stalking.

I knew I had a problem when I'd do a search for Enfield and I had to start on the last page and work my way backward because I've seen everything on the previous 18 pages....

I brought home the No1 MkIII* today. It's nice! The stock is heavily marked compared to my BSA... This No1 is an Enfield BTW. I'm hoping to get some pictures up tonight.
