L42 IIW/IWS brackets....., further
Thought that I'd break the last thread that's getting rather loooooooong now! But as a matter of interest, we fitted and tried one of the currently reproduced IIW/IWS brackets to a slave L42 on the Armourers test range yesterday. In the interests of science and not fun you inderstand...! Dimmed the lights and fired about 35 test rounds from the Enfield rest with the recoil set to hard and while it wasn't correctly zeroed (mind you, it was very close anyway.....)
The rifle, bracket and IIW sight performed perfectly. So if you are going to get one, get one of these that you know is good before some rubbishy old 'asian' copies come on to the market.
Sorry if this is advertising in any way but we've tried them and they work and they'll fit in your chest AND complete the set..................

I tried it too..
Just a couple of magazines at 50 meters at a man-size target, though.
Here it is.

Mine arrived the day before yeterday, engineering excellence!
Test fitted it to the 42 and the 4t, perfect fit on both
all I need now is the IWS to go on top, the hunt continues for that, as does the saving up .
Thanks Rob its a

These old, 70's RANK PULLIN Controls SS20 IIW/IWS sights do turn up occasionally on that auction site. Put in all the usual words including the commercial designation I've mentioned plus L1 night sight and see what appears

What should one expect to pay for a SS20 IIW, w/o going overboard?

Thanks for the advice peter, I'll keep on looking for that bargin, last one i saw went for £1300, a bit out of my league (thats if i want to stay married ).
we live in hope though all things come to those that wait, at least with the addition of the mount the chest is now complete.

Price for an IIW., phew! I have never bought one but they're old hat technology now. If you do get a non-runner it will only be the electronic tube as the optics and ellectrics are very basic. I digress........ Haven't got a clue about price but I'd get one with a duff tube and see me for a good used one

If any L42A1 owners want an original bracket, I've listed one on that infamous auction site. It's the pattern we worked from for the repros and as I'm quite happy with them, I don't feel the need to keep it, not having an L42 - (shocking I know!, :-) But I was out of the game when all that was going on...) Anway, I feel a further taste for Ross rifles and Lee Speeds coming on, so must thin the herd a little!

Have an original bracket and would give my left "nut" to find an original scope ...

A mate of mine is currently refurbishing an IWS if anyone wants one, I can ask him for a price. I don't know if he's got it up and running yet, last time we spoke he was replacing the tube.
He's got some Twiggys as well, if you'd like to outfit your sangar
