I don't know, but .50bmg tracers seem to fire up pretty quick.

Last I checked the topic was on .30 cal tracers. There are three 50 BMG tracers all of which are designed differently. For the 50 you have the M10 tracer (100 yards from barrel), M17 Tracer (trace from barrel) and M20 APIT which lights up about 70 yards from the muzzle. For what it's worth, the 20mm Vulcan M220 TP-T (target practice-tracer) lights up in the barrel also.
Sorry about the mild sarcasm but the urban legend of tracers and their effects on the barrel is BS. Think about the physics involved for a second. How could the tracer element ignite from the burning powder and leave these horrible deposits in the barrel with 45 to 50,000psi behind it all within a thousandth of a second? Remember, the last residue to hit the bore is from the primer.
