U stamp on 4.35 mill NPM query
Guys was looking with view to a new addition to the carbine collection today at a 4.3million NPM......first question is this receiver is stamped with U on the slope of the receiver in front of the recoil plate.....what does this stand for please ? is it a sub contract receiver.
also any brief details on what this 4.3million NPM should have on it and approx month and year of manufacture .
Hope you guys are having a great sunday ?
Regards
Lloyd

Receiver was one of 50,052 made by Union Switch & Signal Co. for NPM.
High wood stock should be marked Trimble TN, Type 1 front band, flip sight marked N-A, pushbutton safety, flat bolt.
"4.3 million" eh? Well, that sure narrows it down!
Sometime between Jan. and Apr. 1944

Union Switch & Signal also made 28,949 receivers for Quality HMC, marked UN-QUALITY. They are sought-after.
