Price for a National Match 1903

I'm trying to determine what the price range would be for a National Match 1903. The rifle is in the SRS data base, it is in the 1.4 million range with a barrel dated 1-32. It is in a C stock with correct butt plate and a DAL cartouche. The bolt matches and has the serial number scribed on to it.

A local gun shop acquired it recently and I want to make an offer on it, but would like to know what people are currently paying for these rifles.

Star guaged barrel also? Personally I'd call up Scott Duff and he could give you an educated guess over the phone. It could be anywhere between $2000 and $3500.............possible more.

why call Scott??youll get much more accurate info right here..
if you have the complete serial number, i or some of the other members can see if it has a hit on SRS or the DCM sales list.
if indeed a genuine NM rifle, or 1903A1 star gauged rifle, depending on over all originalality it retail value could be 3 to 5,000.00
if its just a 1903A1, 1,200.00 would be a closer value.

If you will look a Scott's website, he currently has several NM rifles on it. In addition, he just sold 4 or 5 more in his last offering. They were all nice rifles, and varied in price from about $3500 to $5500, depending on condition, and available documentation.

On the other side of the coin, there is one NM (offered by RTL for a friend of his) that has a cracked stock, and a replacement barrel for (I think) about $1600. There have been several NMs in this approximate condition (and similar price range) listed on Gunbroker with no takers.

So what does this all mean? With most of Scott's rifles in the $3500 to $5500 range being nice, mostly documented rifles selling quickly, and the lower end and/or lesser condition rifles not selling.............

I think you can draw your own conclusions.

The best thing you can do is note the full serial number, the condition and markings of the rifle, any modifications, and maybe some photos (if possible); there are several members here that can give you an honest opinion.

This is a down economy. You could try you low ball it a little bit and see what they say or keep an eye on it to see how long it sits. Not many folks out there can afford high end toys right now.

i have original star quaged national match, used at perry in 1937 and 38

still shoots quite well, original lyman 48 sights on it, and m2 stock

m2 butt plate is a butt kicker though
