9251 and 9406 are on either side, and were receiver only sales.

Thanks for the info, fellas. By the way, on the receiver only sales through DCM, was the bolt included, polished and etched with the SN?

The receiver assembly did not come with a bolt, and you could order the standard receiver or the NM receiver. The NM receiver was approximately $2 higher than the standard receiver.

How do you tell an NM from standard?

The NM has polished raceways.

This rifle that I requested the SRS check on was on Gunbroker.com and was advertised as a NM rifle. I had requested a check on a 1403XXX SN earlier and Johnny stated that there was a hit.....DCM Sale. With that info and through the opinions of others, comparing other NM rifles, the reference book I have with me and my own knowledge, I did purchase that rifle. I felt comfortable that is was correct and Johnny's info helped me to pull the trigger, as it were. I have contacted SRS to subscribe and to purchase the letter on that SN. Thanks, Everyone for your input.
