M1 Garand help???

Hello all, am new here. from Plymouth IN. I have found an M1 Commemorative that is a Basic Training Comm. Have never seen this and have been looking all over the net and can't find any information about it. If anyone has heard of this could you please let me know. It's in a glass case, and they want $2000.00 for it. Im sure it's worth it but, need to be a little better versed thanks

Probably not worth it. Those commemorative M1 Rifles were usually made (recently) with commercial cast receivers, not real USGI receivers, with engraved stocks and gold plated parts in an attempt to make a collectible rifle. People trying to sell them ask a lot of money for them but they usually languish unsold at those prices, until a (probably) inexperienced new collector comes along and buys it, thinking it has historic value.
