1. I would venture to speculate that maybe HALF the VFW rifles "loaned" out by the CMP/DCM over the last 40 years or so have LONG AGO "left the auditorium" (accountability lost)
2. Checking the list of "stolen" rifles isn't a bad idea, but if it is "stolen," you would then have to decide if returning the rifle (I am sure CMP will send you a postpaid box/label) is something you are morally bound to do (I would, but some folks would not).
3. The chances of anyone ever getting arrested for possessing a single VFW rifle that was in fact "stolen," is ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY WAY BELOW ZERO.ZERO percent. Throwing the word "felony" around in this situtation is a rather extreme bit of hyperbole.
Bottom line, don't lose any sleep waiting for any black helicopters.Information
