lapua 30 caliber match bullets

I have what I am told are Lapua 30 caliber match bullets. Looking at the base I see a actual step down to a boat tail, rather than an angled boat tail. They weigh out at 167 grains. Why the step rather than the tapered boat tail. Any help with data for an M1-A using 4895 or Varget will be appreciated. Thanks.

That design is believed to provide a better base seal and reduce or eliminate blow by experienced in some rifling configurations.

With out seeing the bullet I would guess it is a Scenar or a bullet in that design family. Not all Lapua bullets are always available in the US. Take a look here for info on your bullet and see if you find it. Lapua: Bullets

That's the Lapua D46 match bullet, whose design goes back to the 1930's. Originally made in 170gr (yours) and 185gr weight, only the 185gr bullet is still made by Lapua. In milsurp brass 42.0gr of IMR4895 is the top end load.

Yep, thats right. And a very successful load for the Swiss G11 also.
