I'm not sure that I would do anything to the 03. The 1917 is another story. It even looks embarased to be dressed that way.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). The sported 03A3 arrived at my FFL's yesterday and I got a chance to look it over before it went into the safe for the obligatory 10 day "coolin off" period.

It is as described, metal is unmolested, SC barrel on a Remington receiver. Bore is shiny, rifling is strong, muzzle gauges a "1" on the CMPicon gauge, won't close on a field gauge. The stock is as pretty in person as in the pictures.

Now, to see how it shoots..

It's not really the firearm that drives people insane. It is the bayonet lug and the type of pistol grip.
Once I bought a big black scary looking car. It had a fully automatic transmission, large capacity fuel tank, a sound supressor, etc. That car hit a post. Kinda proves that Sara Brady is right. (lol)

Best of luck with the knee surgery Chuck!

I've had both my knees done, but one at a time. Old Motocross injuries - Never figured I'd live this long.

Limped on my left leg for months, then limped on my right leg for months after the surgeries -
(I wonder if you get them done at the same time you'll walk straight!)

The surgeries and therapy were no fun, but the eventual results were well worth it.

    Hang in there buddy!

thanks, im going for bi lateral ACLs,
mine are from dirtbikes as well, but my major motivation is so that i can race in the super senior class this summer,
that, and id like a good nights sleep with no pain...hell 2 nites in a row would be shocking.
call me crazy, but i miss being able to ride at a pro level more then anything,
most fun iv had with my pants on.
