Buy one! Let us know if it works alright. I think they make them for MAUSERS, too, don't they?

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Played with and shot a 45 ACP Remington 788 rifle. Didn't hardly need ear protection with the long barrel, and it was quite accurate at 100yd. Don't know who owns it now.

The rear locking lugs on the SMLE and 788 make for more reliable feeding than a front locking design due to the reduced gap from the mag to the chamber. The cartridge is otherwise apt to get out of alignment due to its short OAL. 45ACP also has a convienent rim diameter that is easily adapted to these actions w/ a mimimun of work, although the 788 originally chambered in 223 Rem might do for conversion to 9x19.

Why?--- Why not? I do like quiet projectile throwers.

This photo is from the old Valkyrie Arms website.

Go to the site for Special Interest Arms. They make the kit I used, and also functional DeLisle copies.

The company is just down the road from me (ok, an hour drive...) and I have talked with the owner. The purpose of the kits and his own inhouse conversions is to salvage enfield receivers that are still good even when the rest of the rifle has been trashed by use. Makes sense that if an Enfield is messed up to the point that it cannot be restored/refurbished, then at least parts can be modified and keep on being used. I will say that some of the conversions on the website look exceedingly ugly, but that is only my highly biased opinion. I should really pester the guy and see if he has any spares - I really need a Fazakerley or BSA Shirley No.4 Mk.1 backsight - anyone have any spares?

Bought one of the old Rhinelander kits. A little different and about half the price. Got to use up some odds and ends I lying around. The only problem its gives me is ejecting, otherwise shoots great and is a lot of fun!
