A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Once I was accused of paying too much for a widget, to which I replied, well, show me yours, to wit he said, "I don't have one, they cost too much".

There used to be in Brentwood, Essex! 5000 plus I was told, many cased and in the mounts. They sold 'em for £5.00 each...when that was half a week's wages.

I don't think you'll get a mount/set of rings off the shelf for a No42/53 because the tubes are .020 or so over 1".
