sweed mauser barrel
just got a sweedish mauser,. matching barrel and receiver. Nice condition, but has the barrel that has been reamed smooth for .5 inch at the end. Has this anything to do with the guns accuracy/shooting ability or is this for something other? Should I have the barrel recrowned to get rid of this end barrel area? thanks,

It’s been counter bored. This is a method to correct for muzzle damage from steel cleaning rods. Shoot the rifle first with different types of ammo. Some old rifles respond very, very well to a counter bored muzzle.
