Name this aperture
[/IMG]What type of aperture is this? It does not have tracks. It does have a punch mark. How can I tell if it is milled or stamped? Thanks, Mike

The thick aperatures with punch mark and no tracks are Winchester. All Garand
apertures are machined

Unfortunately, they really don't know the difference in cast, forged, stamped or milled. Plenty of errors in that book concerning manufacturing methods, sorry! Otherwise, its a fairly useful reference.

Mike,

The Red, Blue and Green cover books by Scott Duff are what you need to start. Take the Poyer & Reisch book and used it for a page marker.
One of Duff's books show an SA photo of a partilly finished series of sight apertures. You'll see how they were done.
