.... but, after thinking about it for a minute, it's not a bad idea ...

Ask your wife or someone you know that sews if they have a dress form.

Well I am pretty sure you can buy plenty of mannequins here in the states for free, just go to Congress or the Senate - plenty of wooden mannequins hanging out there!!

Of course you will probably have trouble being able to import them, pretty sure they would classify as toxic waste (I feel bad about putting good toxic waste in the same category as politicians though).

Just mentioned this post to my wife and she suggested making a "Duct Tape" dummy. While wearing an old t-shirt you have an assistant tape over the shirt, cut down one side, repair the slit then fill the cavity with styrofoam peanuts, old rags, etc. Jam a pole up the middle and make a stand then Voila!, you have a homemade mannequin/dummy.
