Just to close the loop on this I successfully installed the barrel today. I had re-parked the receiver so cleaned up the receiver threads and found I had an initial position of 38 deg offset when hand tightened. I used Brownells barrel paste on the barrel threads and shoulder face and found that the barrel turned on without any difficulty. I used a short 10" extension on my Brownells wrench to torque up the last couple of degrees to center. Verified center with two 24 inch aluminum bars on bottom of barrel and receiver and cross checked with an angle finder. Still need to strip the bolt and run the go/no-go gauges to verify headspace.
