a source for multiple thickness sheets of cork?

I need some to bed a few N0.4s and because of the variations, I will most likely need a few different sizes.

they need to be clean new stock because it is for other shooters rifles also.

any ideas?

Go to an auto parts store & ask if the sell sheets of gasket material.

That's part of what I do, but I'm in New Zealand

McMaster-Carr sells it in sheets or strips. 1/16" to 1/2" in 1/16" increments and 1/32" and 3/32" sheets.

You should be able to find it in an office supply shop too. They use it for making notice boards for thumb tacks. Rolls of it.

Do you mind if I ask why you're relegated to looking for cork packing over the correct fitting of the a No4 fore-end? There may be a good reason, such as to replicate something but it's worth remembering that during all of the scientific trials undertaken during the later part of the war and the 50's, no other method of fore-end fitting ever out performed the correct method for accuracy and longevity. Just interested that's all.....

We at the Western Command Signals rifle club at Swanbourne used a lot of the Greek stuff and it shot well out to 500 but not so good after that,the cases only like a few reloads after that ,they tend to split at the neck. Cheers Ross
