Charlie, that is a nice looking early Inland for sure. I think the rear sight is a field install. The hammer may have been switched out during a cleaning party. I doubt it has been through any post war rebuild program since it still has the push safety and type I barrel band. The stock looks very nice even with the "carving" on the fore end. The "carving" is probably the guys name skirted by his outfit???

I kind of thought the same thing Frank. I did some searching but found nothing.

I remember a past discussion on a method of identifying whether an early Inland had been re-parked or not by a color line on the receiver. I am thinking it was in reference to how it was submerged in the tank. After looking at mine, SN 139678, there is difference in the color, almost a line on the receiver. I cannot see anything like that on the receiver above. I am sure there is a way to find that thread for someone that is good on searching previous topics. Regardless, very nice carbine.

Bill, I have an uncle who was in the Navy in the Pacific on an LST. He kept a carbine in his bunk the whole time and even brought it home. He says that alot of sailers on the landing craft kept weapons. Some of his stories are pretty terifying.....Frank

Brian, I didn't catch that. Interesting Inland 1414xx, could be another kind of collection type of thing!!
Bill, my .U. 1,414,616 is only 13 apart from Brian's. Mine is no where as nice as Brian's but those two carbine's sat very close togther at one time. I think that is kind of neet....Frank
