I have a Winchester (SN 1,079,xxx) in WWII configuration in an oval oiler slot, high-wood stock that has only one marking that I know of.... a "K" stamped inside the stock between the mag well and the trigger well. This rifle has all Winchester parts, but there is no "W" anywhere on the stock. There is no indication of any marks in the sling slot, and the routing marks are still clear, so I don't think any were sanded off. I can't find any stock manufacturer with a "K" stamp. Can anyone shed some light on this? Another poster on another forum said the "K" looked like an inspector's stamp.
