    Red face

That must have been quite a sight, troops pulling off all those "manufacturer tags".

    WWII "littering".

Only one sling out of a pack of ten had a tag.

BTW Home & Bldg Mat'ls Co. was a legit WWII sling provider.

I don't know that I would be so quick to judge. Like Brian, I have seen these before. Had one but the paper was darker. Also Mags had one out of the box of 100 with a label. Maybe Bill has some contract info?

The same seller has other items that look good.

    Late M-8 scabbard with hanger.

M1936 Belt with Pouch (wasn't someone looking for one of these a few days ago?)

My initial post was not meant to comment on what may be a repro sling and tag. Only to point out that not every sling or magazine for that matter had a label. The sling in question may be real and it may be a fake. I won’t post a comment either way. I will say that in the mid 1990’s a dealer had copies made of a real HOME & BLDG MAT’LS CO tag and sold repro slings as real complete with the tags he had made. When questioned on the authenticity the dealer admitted he had the tags made up. There is a difference in the material the real tags and the fake ones are made out of.

No markings on the sling snap and a pure white tag? Will it pass the Bill Ricca sling test?
    Could go either way????

His M8 scabbard is going crazy. I have the identical item on my website for $27.50.

Actually it is not an M8. Because it has the M1910 hook, it is an M8A1.

    Wow!

    Wow!

My goodness, $109 for just an M8A1! I have an actual M8 on my old Utica M4, and gave less than half that for the bayonet and M8!

It is an M8 with the hook added you can not tell if the webbing was replaced or a hook just added. This was a fairly common modification of the M8. If the hook was just added then it could be restored to original configuration but if the webbing is replaced it is now to long for an M8. The price is stupid either way, why would anyone pay that?

But I have one question for this item.... Regardless of if it is legit or a fake, is the current bid of $9.99 a good price for ANY repro sling to put on a CMPicon RG that you take to the range? It beats using a string on the rifle....

Bill, you have your legit 1960's slings for $25.00 which is a good price IMHO. If this one goes for $10, then its a good price for dragging around on a shooter.

Maybe this a (hopeful) example of reality setting on the humpers and their repro stuff starting to sell for what its really worth.... Thats the first step to this madness over humping to end.... Market forces have spoken

    Just my 2 cents worth....
