I tripped across a vendor who has been around for awhile. He has an eclectic assortment of inventory, mostly ammo and used commercial guns and trade ins. He also has some fairly inexpensive GI surplus parts for M1Garand, Cabine, and M14s. Not a wide selection, but some good stuff. I have bought a few things from him in the past, and they were good. When I was doing a small order for some blank ammo and I tripped across this flip sight for $35.
"From the closed Iver Johnson Plant, Very good Looking and fits all Military and Commercial Carbines."
It appears to be at least a good repro. However, my thought is this:
Even if it is a repro (which he does not claim it to be original) it is a very good one. I am banking on, though, that he is not a parts humper, that Plainfield, and later Iver Johnson who bought all of Plainfield's machining and huge stock of surplus parts. To my knowledge, neither ever made a gun with a flipper. Maybe it is my turn to be lucky..... I ordered one just in case. It may end up on my Inland. I would like opinions first, before I disclose where it is from so there is no prejudice (NO, it is not George in any of his aliases or the guy in Alaska!). I shared it with him, so Colreed already knows, and he is not certain. I will post better pics when the sight arrives.Information
