I have both (the swiss is not an K31 its a G11) and both are great shooters.
The difference between the rifles is, that the Swiss
has the better visible sights. Nothing more.

Get both. First the K31
before prices really rise.
Then take you time looking for a good M96.
Both have heavy barreled commercial target versions too.

I shoot my K31
better than my M38 and M96 swedes. I have a CG63 swede mauser that outshoots the K31, but it's a target rifle with diopter sights not a battle rifle. The swiss GP11 ammo is accurate and the K31 sights better than M38/M96. My best 100 yard group with the K31 is just less than 2 inches, with the M38/M96 swedes 4+ inches. I've shot small 1.5 inch groups with the GC63. All are nice high quality rifles but I like the K31 best. Something about the different action and chunky stock. Great light trigger on the K31, dont know it that's standard but that's how it came to me.

The trigger of the Swiss
rifles have an standard trigger weight of 1350grams.
Thats much better than my M38 with 2400grams.

My K31 Swiss
:
1. Good trigger pull
2. Good action with fast bolt recycle
3. Good weight
4. Free floated barrel
5. Excellent accuracy
5. Nice rifle overall
6. Don't have a swede

Swiss
rifles are seriously undervalued - probably because they were never involved in any bloody wars, so the historical flavor is missing. But Swiss rifles + GP11 ammo = off-the-shelf precision service-rifle shooting without spending months in ammo testing.
And if I finally get round to making a jig to fit a scope on my G96/11, I suspect I shall discover that Swiss rifles + GP11 ammo + scope = unbeatable.
Diopter is 100% correct. Carl Gustafs are better known, so not so cheap if you want a good one. Swiss rifles offer the best accuracy per dollar. Buy now while stocks last!

Patrick,
the only scope mount is from S&K but i dont know how good it is. I have the same thoughts to build up an rifle for the ZG2 shooting at 300m.
If you run across another sope mount, please be so kind and let me know.
