Small arms with a side venture into handcuffs and tree shears. I suspect if someone was to repeat that as an "unsubstantiated" story a few decades from now it would be laughed at by most of the historians as completely improbable.
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”
Edward Bernays, 1928
Much changes, much remains the same.
I always got a giggle out of that, especially the tree shears.
Say, Rob...do you know how to make the print bigger and more readable ? I tried and tried but to no avail.
You don't have to Warren... your pics you uploaded were big enough ....
Note: For everyone's benefit ....
After you click on images to ENLARGE them, you may find they automatically size smaller in your browser's window making them harder to view. The auto sizing is your browser's way of keeping images entirely within the screen size you have set. Move your mouse pointer to the bottom centre of the pic and you will see an options panel appear. There will be a small square box next to the large X, which will have a pointer arrow sticking out of it. If it's illuminated, it means the pic you're viewing can be enlarged, so click on this box and the pic will EXPAND and open to its normal size.
Once enlarged, these particular pics uploaded by Warren are easily readable ..

Doug

Moved 'em to my Photobucket account and converted to "img" format. Ought to do until someone has a better solution.
What's the date for the LithgowShopping List? is it the same as the letter about the Mk. III* Special ?

Yes... all 3 pages came stapled together. I remember being absolutely floored in that I received the letter in 3 days from the postmark, along with another one from the UK in the same time frame yet a letter from Ottawa which is 300 miles away, as the crow flies, took 12 days. You gotta love the Auzzie and Britishmail systems
Warren, Did you ever get the rifle on page one?
$40 for a heavy barrel for the NO.1 Mk3 - where's that time machine gone? Oh that's right, it's probably somewhere in Warren's shed.
