New guy in Wa. first M1

Picked up a M1icon as a trade last week, what a hoot to shoot. Best I've ever done with peep sights.

Inland 12/43 barrel, Inland serial number 3079XXX. Unmarked or marks removed stock.

Welcome to the forum. Looks like a nice carbine. Can you post some close ups of the rear sight and the barrel band? Any stamps in the slingwell?.....Frank

    Frank,
I don't have very good camera with me right now. Stock has no marks, discolored area were cannons should be. No marks in sling well anywhere, crudely carved, marks show oiler was there once. Rear sight has In B on right side and S on left side. Barrel band has raised O on top, side screw and no sling attachment. Any ideas about stock? Looks period but I'm new to these.
    Thanks Scott

    Edit
I have taken it down a little bit, need to write down stamps on parts.

More than likely your looking at a weld circle.
These bands can be found marked on the right side UI, often times with the I stamped very lightly. Some are 2 weld others 3. Some marked, others not.
Band swivels can be found marked and not marked.

Stock looks to have been sanded heavily around the comb, grip and the bottom side.
Can you see how far the bottom of your trigger housing hangs down, under the stock?
Pictures showing the inside milling style of the stocks barrel channel can often give us a lead on who the original maker was.

Listed parts indicate it's a mixer, but then again 90% + are.

Is there any type of staking on top of the receivers dovetails visable that's holding the rear sight in place?

And welcome, We do enjoy pictures. They are fun to shoot

The raised O sure doesn't look like a weld mark to me on barrel band.
    Crappy cell phone pics

No stakes in dove on rear site, not completely sure I know what your talking about but... Typically as in dove tail on modern rifle dove tail slides in and is held in place with friction?

Scott, take the rifle out of the stock there may be some stamps on the inside. Also should be some stamps on the inside of the handgaurd. Looks like a cut down highwood to me. Like Jim said we like pics.....Frank

    Scott,
Is there a relief cut under the seat for your Recoil plate like in this 1st picture?
Hard to tell from your pictures, but I'm wondering if you might have a WWII replacement stock.

2nd picture: Does your front barrel channel measure just over 3" or 4" ?

3rd picture: J marking for Jewell made stock.
Can you see anything like this J ?
Or a IR, PJ, LB or LW?
