It looks to be an M3 for aircraft use. No hand firing mech or provision for sights. Using an M2 receiver though. Very nice...

Private Pillsbury must have been in good condition to be tossing .50 cal's around all day. Carry on Private.
As I have never seen one, could it the be the aircraft firing mechanism on the bottom shelf off her right elbow?

It does sort of look like it, but I thought it was a whole cradle they put them in to shoot. It was solenoid fired from the side. Spade type handles and big ring sights...

They are an M2 reciever. That's a fact. They are in M3 config I think. The thing that you may have me on here is the small buffer as opposed to the large one...maybe you can explain your justification to me? I'd love to hear...You may be right though Chris... I'd love a side view...

I guess the best one is the M3 was adopted in Apr '45 and by Sept '45 only about 2,000 had been delivered. A gun in '42 cannot be in the configuration of a gun that did not exist for another 3 years . But , I'm a ground gun guy , and not up on flying models at all. As Obi-wan said , " Luke , truth often depends on your point of view ."

I'm not so up on some of the older models. I tend to agree with you.

    Ma

What a treat Ma Deuce was... especially watching those tracers arc out 1800 meters But you better keep your timing gage handy!
