Two questions for 2014 projects. One p14 oriented, and one transit case oriented.

    1. Does anyone have details of the procedures tip /. trick etc to taking down a P14 bolt? mine is completely jammed up with gunk n junk and cosmolene and while I probably could flush it with brakekleen i'd like to do it once anyway to kill some time and learn.
    2. Someone on here used to make replica NO/4 transit cases and had a supplier that would provide identical stencils for the lettering serial number etc. Does ANYONE have any memory of who it was or who the supplier was. i need to buy a set or two for some faux transit cases.

and happy new year to all.....

Thanks Peter. Is there a specific FONT with a set size that was used for the correct stencils please?

P14 bolt takedown is simple. I use a small screwdriver to hook and pull back on the cocking piece so the body can be turned off. Once off place the firing pin tip on a non slip surface and press down on the shroud until it clears the cocking piece, turn cocking piece 90 degrees either direction and pull it off the firing pin then carefully let the spring pressure off and remove shroud and spring. Be very careful not to let the shroud slip out of your grasp once the cocking piece is off or the spring pressure will send it sailing and you may have to mount a search to find it. Reassembly is in reverse order.

You might want to contact this chap who sells on ebay:

British 300 Cart BDR .303 Ball Ammo Box 1 Stencil Letters | eBay

He is very pleasant to deal with and offers a prompt service and will produce any stencil you want - and they are produced on ex MOD tooling.

I have no link to him - only that he has produced some for me in the past

Newcastle: As Vintage Hunter says, P14 (or Model 1917) bolt takedown is very simple. I find a loop of wire hooked around the end of the cocking piece allows you to rotate out the bolt plug with ease.
