    Sten "T" stock repair

I picked up this Sten stock recently from a well known internet auction site at a discounted price because the key which fits into the rear of the trigger housing had broken off. The vendor stated that they had purchased it from a market stall in Franceicon and so it could be ex Resistance but probably isn't.

I thought that members maybe interested in seeing how I went about making a repair to the stock. The "key" is basically a stepped button, turned on a lathe with flats machined on the sides. These flats could be filed if a milling machine isn't available. The key is held in place by a tapered pin of 1 degree total taper (this angle seemed to be ok to me). There is some doubt as to whether or not the rear of the pin was also intentionally held in place by weld as well when the tube was welded on the plate at the other side. I suspect that it was but I am not certain because the stub of the old pin was only marginally held in place by weld. I did not have much trouble removing the stub once the side pin had been extracted. For the time being I'm not attempting to weld the rear of the pin in place out of simplicity and it is only a deactivated Sten. This may have to be revisited at a later date and the rear of the pin welded.

Thanks for the I.T. advice, CINDERS, which I had to modify slightly for an Apple laptop but pictures are in correct order now.
