German Trench Periscope
This German
Trench periscope was found in my step fathers things after he died. No markings other than the ones in the pic. Glass seems perfect.
What do we have exactly and what is it worth and where to market it.
Thanks

You will find that there are almost certainly other markings, possibly on the bottom of the prism housings. Almost certainly a C.P. Goerz model as per photos below.
They made a single tube periscope that was half of one of these stereoscopic models. I've had two over the years, and they were very good glasses.
(The Dietzgen tripod shown is of course not original to the glasses)

Wwi german optics
Jim thanks. You are probably right. Great shame but an opportunity to re-energise this thread. I am coming from the perspective of optics used by machine gun units, and like most in the trenches must have taken advantage of whatever was available. The GOERZ CP Berlin made trench periscopes both monocular and 'binocular' were actually quite common.

For the Moderator?
Is it possible to move this thread to another section. I am a user of the LMG section which is where I am hoping to steer this content to. Not sure it belongs in the Military Discussion section as the 'original author' was discussing values. Thanks for your consideration.

German Trench Optics.
thanks Bob for moving.
Still trying to find an expert on all of these optics, particularly SF09 and SF14. There is a lot of letters after the SF14 which clearly mean something!
