Inland unmarked barrel ID help

Unmarked, blued, unused since the 60's, before it was profitable to fake anything on a carbine. This carbine has always been a mystery, but especially the barrel. Has Inland heiroglyphics on the flat, and I-I or H in front of the gas piston. What do I have here?

With that serial would like to see some better pictures of the receiver ring markings.
Looks to me that all the metal has been buffed to crap and then re-blued, maybe removing the barrel manufacturers marking in the process.

I thought that carbine barrel looked too civilian to be issue. Now we see the truth, civilian overhaul or built from scratch.

Number 7,552,968 is on a spreadsheet and noted as being a No Date IBM barrel. It's in CC News Letter 215-3 in Springfield Armory T4 and M2 collection.

Can you see a 1 stamped after the M on the front of the Receiver ring?
I think I see it in your 4th picture from the side view.
But your Serial Number is in, lets say a Red Zone if one was was digging in.

The reason it sat unused for decades was an op slide that would pop out of the right receiver slot, really sloppy. My dad thought it might have been an M2 re arsenaled as an M1 and refinished by someone at some point. I got a new op slide, spring & rod and it is a nice shooter now. Only put about 20 rounds through it so far though.

It does appear to be a 1 in his 4th picture, but I would like to see a clearer pic of those receiver ring markings.

Whenever I see any carbine start with a number 7 it makes me take closer looks. To the OP, is there any particular reason why you have a live round in the chamber? If anything you need a snap cap my friend. Never mix live ammunition with stripping or cleaning your firearm in any way, shape or form. this is the safest route.hth

JD, I get the floating firing pin thing. But he does have the Op Slide and Spring off. Still, Not a good habit to get in to.
I do this but have cases made up at different OAL's with bullet seated and length sharpie'd on the case. Just no primer or powder.
Use them like poor man head space gages.. and to measure how far to rifling. And to set Dies up.

Yes jond, I agree about live ammo, as painter 777 said, the op slide & spring was off, and I was seeing how deep the round sat in the chamber. I did not have an empty brass cartridge to try. It looks bad though.

Thanks for all the info, and yes, it looks like it was heavily buffed, judging by the lack of machining marks on the barrel and wear on the SN area.

Here is another pic of the receiver ring, looks like the M1 was ground out and restamped? Also another of the empty chamber, I didn't know if I had a resleeved barrel or not.
