Wouldn't make sense with a serial number that high and the date. As I said in my pm the numbers and details were given to me over the phone while I have been waiting for my Permit To Acquire arrives so I can pick it up. I have already discovered details in the serial number incorrect which were passed to me. I am not that lucky to luck apon a rare bird. There has to be an error.

Mine is 1944 MKI* 78L50XX. Black walnut, smooth hand guard, CCM stamped on fore cap, butt plate is steel, and all numbers matching except magazine (no serial). Barrel is five-groove and marked LB 44. All marked parts marked LB and or C^. Somebody buggered an edge with a die grinder when they deburred it, but I guess it was deemed good enough to plug ol' Heinrich and sent off to Englandicon anyway. It did come with a faz marked front blade and 1950's BSA micrometer sight to go along with the "England" stamp on the receiver and British proof marks on same and barrel; now it sports a correct MkIII rear sight and LB front blade (thanks again, Ron).

Guess I should post it. No.4 Mk1 1941 0L9182 in the process of being "desporterised" (in the parts collecting phase) Bolt matches but I was told that from the markings it was rebarreled with a 5 groove barrel during 1961 in South Africa.

Gentlemen, I submit my lone Longbranch:

    Ser# 69L75XX
    Receiver is dated 1944
    Matching bolt & receiver
    CMkIII rear sight
I bought it "Bubba'd" and all replacement fittings and wood are correct except for the mag. Need one marked for Longbranch. Rifle has no import stamps and is in excellent condition.
