    Hi Fellows
    Happy New Year!

No job in my Bren. I have not had time to devote.
But it takes some pictures with her older sister

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. It is the first time I have one ZB in my hands and I was impressed!

It seems made like a Rolls Roice, compared with the Bren...

    And along MG-34

    OK. I'll bite!

What model of "Bren" / Universal Carrier has SOLID (non-spoked) road wheels?

Come to think of it, Luis, where was your carrier made?

A couple of other extra bits:

Has ANYONE ever seen a real, live Australianicon "tracked truck" lately? These look a bit like some of the "Maultier" series vehicles built by the Germans in WW2 in that they have two of the "double" suspension units each side and a "soft-skin" truck cab perched in front of a tray-type truck body.

There used to be one in the side yard of a house just south of Brisbane: as a young lad, I helped put it there after it was recovered from the "bush". There now appear to have been several attempts in Oz to build a tracked "logistics" vehicle, using "Universal" carrier running gear.

Australian and New Zealand built carriers have a different "slope" on the front "glacis" plate above the front axle. I also understand that the carriers built by GM NZ were NOT built from "armour" plate steel and were essentially "trials" or training vehicles.

"Did the S.A.S Desert Raiders have Training shoes during the last War?................"

Well, they, and their colleagues in the Long Range Desert Group, Popski's Private Army etc, often wore, appropriately enough, DESERT BOOTS. These were lightweight, sort-of-crepe soled, ankle-height numbers.

Sometimes also called "brothel-creepers". (a bit quieter than hob-nailed boots on the marble floors, apparently)
