Joined to identify some old WWII guns before I work on them.

After reading some of your forums, I came to the conclusion someone out there might be able to shed some light on the attached pictures of a gun. This will be the first of about 3 or 4 guns I have but know nothing about. Does anyone know what it is?

    Thank and regards

    Dear Vats,

It looks like a sporterised P14 if .303, or a P17 if .3006. either made by Winchester, Eddystone or Remington made for the Britishicon Army circa 1917.
The top furniniture has been removed, if the bore is good and you can get 2 inch groups at 100yds it would be worth getting it back to the original.

Hello to all from the great tar heel state. Old man who loves guns and corvettes. Too bad I was raised poor and stayed that way. Wouldn't change a thing though. Good family and few friends.

    Hi Everyone,

New member also. Also a member on CGN under the same handle.

Currently have an M1icon Garand (H&R), two M1 Carbines (Saginaw & Quality Hardware) & an AR15 (Bushmaster XM15E2S - 16" barrel - although technically not a milsurp, it about as close as I can get in a black rifle)

Howdy from South Texas on the gulf coast,
I'm a lover of the Springfield 30A3. Have been looking for a long time for an
    accurate barrel for mine.
Back in the 50s, Dad my brother and I each bought and received 2 from NRA when they made them available thru their surplus program. (Along with 1911s and the Carbine) Took advantage of all of them.
Out of the 6 03s, I got one that was proof fired only. Only thing is, it is not
an accurate 03. I reload and have tried all kinds of different powders and
bullets. The problem is, there is 3/8" of free bore. Way too much for any
kind of accuracy. Any ideas? Have a gunsmith friend that has suggested having it bored and sweat in a liner. I what an origional accurate barrel.

Hello to all, I've visited here for a couple of months and have gotten a lot of info that has been helpful to me concerning my Jungle Carbine. I bought it in the early '50s from a Sears store in Nashville, Tn. They had a special sale going on with a lot of milsurp Enfields in it for some reason. I paid the princely sum of $35.00 for it, if I had only known.......Sears eventually stopped selling any firearms IIRC and look what happened to them! I'm in the middle of a move from Fl. to Co. so no pics at this time. Looking forward to future on this forum. PM
