    Back in the day when you could order one from Sears for $25 people weren't so concerned with "ruining the value". I picked up an underwood once that had the rear dove tail milled completely off. It was also missing the front sights. It was in a homemade pistol grip stock as well. I have no idea what the original owner intended with those modifications. I have seen many in homemade pistol grip stocks.
