I was offered one of these J P Sauer Luftwaffe drillings in the original aluminium case with accessories when I was about 19 for the non-negotiable sum of 35 Pounds. That was almost 2 weeks pay for me and I couldn't afford it (I was too busy buying old Lugers, P38's, M92 Winchesters, etc. at an average of 10 Pounds each) so I told a mate about it and he bought it. He had it for many years and we used it on the odd hunting trip (where it was always carried in a heavily padded gun bag) and only sold it a few years ago for a very handsome price.

Some times its damn hard in the game Woodsy supply meets cash on hand I had the chance to get a fully worked, port & polished heads & expansion chambered 750H2 Kawasaki in the late 70's for $980/Au thing is I was doing a 55 hour week for $110 gross so was way beyond my means.

RCS that's a Schuler on the Rt I have one of those reminds me of the 505 Gibbs in my NE collection,l will have to dig out my metrics one day and take a couple of pics I know I have a little rare Sako in there !

    Schuler 11,2x72 rimless

Cinders, good eyes to catch the 11,2x72mm Schuler, one of the first rebated cartridges to
fit the Mauser bolt face. Without checking Cartridges of the World, I would guess early
WW1 or even pre WW1 period. Never as good as the 505 or even 404 but Germanicon made.

I realize it was a long shot but in reality Jim Burma being where it is and the years (If they are there) underground would make them into worthless junk.
Though speaking of things in the late 60's one of my prospecting friends were drilling up in our remote north when the drill rod just met no resistance what they had discovered was a underground storage bunker from WWII he did not say if they got inside it or not but they are up there.

I wasn't serious about resurrecting the thread nor about the non existent Spitfires. One of these in a buried wreck in the countryside in UKicon would also be scrap...unrecognizable.

I've had three of the Luftwaffe drillings through my shop in 20+ years. The strange part is that it was all the same year and two of them from different people in the same week. When it rains it pours I reckon. They were all decent original guns. Two with cases and some of the accessories. The Gent, (sadly deceased last year), who hired me into the trade at age 15 in Florida used to collect multi barrel guns and he had one which was the first I'd ever seen. It had a rubber recoil pad fitted which detracted from it's value. They sold PDQ too. I wish I'd taken some pictures of them but my hindsight is 20/15!

Am sure there was a good article on these in the HBSA Journal, some time back.......... for any UKicon members looking to go down the collecting route its worthwhile becoming a member, you don't have to become a full member, you can be a corresponding member.
Certainly give me some brownie points regarding the 7.1 pistols.........
