It is a K-88 carbine . The stock has been messed with . The bolt is not original , carbines do not have flat bottom bolt knobs , they have spoon handles . Turkey never got any K-88's . K-88's never had the 05 modification , so it will not have a clip guide , notched receiver or magazine modifications . The S ammo bullet was not .323 . A photo of the model type stamping on the left side of the receiver [ Kar-88 or Gew-88 ] will tell if it was an original carbine or made up from parts . A photo of the makers mark on the top of the receiver will also help .

Wow lots of good info! Thanks so much everyone! He did get one of those clips with it! Pic attached. So does this make it a KAR 88 for sure? I'll try and get my father to send me some better pics of the receiver to see if that can help.
