enfield303t,
strange as it seems but my mate has just started an application for Canada, like I say I,m happy in most places but the wife is from Brazil, so needs a bit of warmth, but I appreciate the input, I,m afraid if we did look at at Canada, I,d have to be close to Warrens shed, think his wife would soon get the hump at some point with not seeing him for days on end as we trawl through his collection, then again may do him some good, fact is even he doesnt know what he,s got
Amitikulu,
The USA was mentioned some time back, but the boss knows why dont think I need to mention the reason on this forum
In my job have been round the world a few times, seen many things that many dont see, part of being a Merchant Seamen ( Merchant Marine were you live now) but have always had a soft spot for NZ, AUZ and South Africa (cape town) out of four brothers my oldest is in NZ over 33 years now, he went for the same reasons as I,m looking to go and the one up from me went to South Africa a few years ago and has just moved house and due back at some point but just to sell up !!!!

Well hopefully your mate is sucessful in his application to live in Canada. If he makes it and depending on where he decides to live I would enjoy buying him a pint and taking him to the range.
I would also do the same for you and Vancouver Island has pretty mild but rainy winters and I am confident your wife would enjoy the island. Lots of Brits live on VI so you would feel right at home.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

That bloody pub, when I was a kid it was The Empire Hotel, now it's a horseshit joint at the bottom of the main drag.
There are 5 hotels in town, that one would be the dingiest, although it did run topless once until the wives and clergy put a stop to it.
The Hunter Valley was a great place once, now it's rapidly looking like a moonscape with mines everywhere, yeah I know I'm not doing much for tourism, but that's the truth.

Aussie has the better economy NZ has better firearm laws. The hunting is less strenouous in OZZ unless you walk in the mountains on the east coast. Fishing is good. Distance is much greater in OZZ. I am a West Aussie and would have no probs with shifting to the north island if the firearm laws here get screwed down again. NZ is some what cooler than WA and greener for much longer.

Don't know what all this nonsense is about snakes I've lived here (Australia ) all my life and although I've encountered a few over the years the most you will generally see is the south end heading north at a great rate of knot's. the people who get bit are the ones that decide they want to pick them up or poke them with a stick. Like anywhere in the world it's the two legged variety you need to watch out for. Seriously though, Australia's a great place to live and frequently rates amongst the top places to do so in world surveys. NZ does have better firearms laws but isn't anywhere as strong economically and if the move is primarily for the kids then Australia probably represents greater long term opportunity. We have a skilled labour shortage so you'd have no problem with employment, big money in the mines and we still do build ships (not much but we do). Cost of living is well up there in places like Sydney but quality of life is generally great.

Bigduke6, you need to come to WA as this is where all the Enfileds are, especially after we keep plungering the east coast. Travel to NZ every year for a raid there as well. NZ firearms laws are so much better than Oz particularly with SMGs/MGs etc. Would love to retire there myself or have a holiday house.
Can't say too much about their economy or prospects for employment but I think there are now more Kiwis in Oz than NZ which speaks for itself. NZ if you like cold and miserable weather and Oz if you like it hot.

Been there got the T shirt, I was living in Rockingham, south of Perth and working on a few shut downs on the Kiwana strip, also was traveling down to Collie as had just started a job in the power station, at the time was still living in Rockingham, and traveling down for the week on my GS 850, returning for the weekend I hit an oil patch close to were I lived and come off, no serious injury but my arm was in a sling for a week, even then couldnt use it so had to quit the job.
I was going to head for Sydney as my mate was moving back there, but I,d got a decent job offer back at Sea, so took that. Some of the gear I had we took to the hock shop, didnt get much but had a good afternoon in the pub, my bike I couldnt sell in time so we stripped it down and crated it up, and shipped it home.

Bike Duke,
Best combination is to work in WA and play in NZ.
Paul
(Being a Pom in Rockingham, you would have fit right in.)
